Boxes
A Box holds all of your reference media including images, GIFs, videos, and notes. It lives on the edge of your screen and shows live previews of your content.
Add Media
Add media to your Box by dragging & dropping files from your computer or web browser into it. You can also add media via the Toolbar.
Media types supported by Refbox:
Images
PNG, JPG, WEBP (up to 16,000px)
GIFs
GIFs (transparency supported)
Videos
MP4, WEBM, MOV (mac only), AVI (windows only)
Notes
Note editor with basic styling, lists, and checkboxes
SVGs
SVGs are converted into high-quality images when imported
Ways of adding media to your Box:
Drag & Drop
Supported media types can be dragged from your computer or your web browser into your Box.
Note that web browsers do not support Drag & Drop for all file types.
Toolbar
The Toolbar has actions to "Add File" from computer, "Add Note", "Paste" from clipboard
Paste
Paste an item in your Clipboard into your Box by click the Paste option in the Toolbar or by clicking anywhere in your Box and pressing CMD/CTRL + V
How to add various types of media from the web to your Box:
Images
Drag images directly from the web and drop them into your Box.
When adding items from certain sites like Pinterest, Refbox will grab the highest quality version of that image available, so you can just drag and drop the image thumbnail instead of having to open the image link first.
Some sites block the dragging and dropping of images, so instead, you can right-click the image, choose "Copy Image", then paste it into your Box.
GIFs
Drag GIFs directly from the web and drop them into your box.
Some sites might require you to save the GIF to your computer before adding it to your Box.
Videos
Right-click a video on the web, choose "Copy Video Address", then paste it into your Box.
Some sites do not allow you to copy videos in this way. You may need to save them to your computer first, or use a screen recorder to capture them before adding them to your Box.
Notes
Copy text from any source and paste it into your Box.
Click the Add Note button in the Toolbar to create a blank Note.
SVGs
SVG files can be directly dropped into your Box to convert them into viewable images
Websites
Copy a site link and paste it into your Box to add a full-site screenshot of that site.
Longer sites might be broken up into multiple images.
Controls
Simple ways to adjust the Box.
Resize
Click and drag the edge of the Box to adjust its size
Scroll
Use the mouse wheel (or SHIFT + Drag) to scroll through the Box's items
Auto-hide
Auto-hide the Box in Settings (Toolbar action available)
Change Color
Choose a black, semi-transparent, or transparent background color in Settings
Change Sides
Choose which side of your screen the Box is on in Settings (Toolbar action available)
Scrollbar
Turn on a draggable scrollbar for the Box in Settings
Constant Toolbar
Keep the Toolbar always open by turning on the option in Settings
